Mason Apprentice

Location: Frederick, MD

The Work:  Learn and master the skills, details, and safe work-practices needed to construct multiple types of masonry walls and structures using brick, block, stone, and other masonry materials on challenging commercial building projects including schools, government buildings, offices, retail centers etc.  Become accomplished in the safe and efficient use of various trowels, levels, joiners/strikers, hammers, chisels, lines, pins, twigs, saws, scaffold, equipment etc. on the way to becoming a fully skilled mason.  Let the trowel become a natural extension of your arm.

Requirements:  Sponsorship by a company supervisor or foreman after minimum 24 months service as mason tender -or- completion of an accredited masonry training program recognized by company management -or- demonstration of satisfactory ability acquired from previous experience with other contractor.  Physically fit for rigorous construction work including heavy lifting, shoveling, carrying, bending, twisting, climbing, pushing wheelbarrows etc.  Willing to cooperate, follow direction, pitch in to help mason tenders, and continue learning new skills.  Able to communicate with supervisors and crew members.  Reliably shows up at job-site on time Monday through Friday and some weekends (mainly Saturday as weather and project demands). Must be able to pass drug test, provide adequate legal identification, and have sufficiently clear criminal record. OSHA, Red Cross, or other relevant training a plus.

–Base Pay as determined by sponsoring superintendent or foreman, but not less than $12/hr.– or current rate of pay as mason tender.
